The CEOS System Engineering Office (SEO) worked with the CEOS Working Group on Information Systems and Services (WGISS) to gather and organize key information on data policies, data access portals and interoperability protocols.
CEOS is currently operating and planning hundreds of Earth observation satellites. The information contained in this portal will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of gaining access to space-based Earth observation data to support many global intiatives with vast societal impact.
As a part of ongoing efforts to improve the services offered by several core CEOS information services, the ESA CEOS Database / EO Handbook, and SEO teams have collaborated on putting together a brief survey seeking user feedback and suggestions. The information gathered will be used to guide future design and feature enhancement decisions for the EO Handbook, CEOS Database, COVE, and CEOS Data Policy Portal.
Across the globe, 62 agencies from 28 countries have operated or supported Earth-observing satellites, spanning 651 mission/instrument combinations, of which 415 have open data policies. There are currently 350 active mission/instrument combinations supported by CEOS.
